I have observed that most people with a Home Page have put aside an area in which to tell people a little about themselves. I am always interested to see who is 'behind the page', so I thought that you might be, too! Obviously, (and lucky for you), I have only skimmed the surface. (Oh......I could write a book.....but nobody would believe it!)
My Father was a Concert Pianist and my Mother a Homemaker. They raised 4 lovely children....three girls and one boy. I was the "firstborn".
I lived my first 12 years of life in Wilmette, Illinois. Then our family moved to Southern California (San Fernando Valley) where I lived up until 1994.
(Yep.....I'm a Valley Girl....for sure, for sure!)
In High School and College, I majored in Commercial Art, but unable to get my foot in any "commercial art doors", I found work as a Receptionist/Secretary. Thereafter, I worked most of my life as a Secretary, Admin. Asst, and Office Manager in a variety of fields; Airlines, Employment Agency, Advertising, Motion Pictures, Real Estate, Construction, Equipment Leasing....yadda, yadda, yadda.
I was married for 15 years and bore three wonderful sons. I divorced and married again 15 years later (in 1987). (Tragically, I lost my middle son in a motorcycle accident when he was 19.)
In 1992, my hubby (Don) and I vacationed for a week in Southwest Florida, and loved it! I retired early (serious 'job burnout'), we sold our house in California, and moved to Florida in 1994.
(The ground doesn't move in Florida! LOL)

CULTURE SHOCK!! We went from "fast-paced, high-stress" Southern California to "slow-paced, low-stress" Southwest Florida. It has made such a difference in our quality of life and we have discovered the meaning of the word 'tranquility'.
We bought a lovely little house on a freshwater canal...spend a lot of time outdoors and go fishing a lot!

Getting ready to launch
the 'party boat'.
Don continued to work, but he always went fishing before he left in the morning and when he came home at night! ('Catch and release', of course.)

Tragically, he lost his life in a freak accident,
February 20, 2001.
He was only 57 years old.
Since I retired and moved to Florida, I finally have time to devote to my hobbies, which are painting, sculpting and all kinds of crafts.....just about anything 'creative'! Among other things, I spent a year and a half (at a leisurely pace) building a victorian dollhouse (Circa 1930-40) from the ground up, including making most of the furniture, curtains and braided rugs. What fun!
(Click Here to see my completed Dollhouse!)
Other interests are Travel, NASCAR, watching "ER", "Survivor" and all ice skating competitions on T.V., eating out and, of course, WebTv (not necessarily in that order).
Below are a few photos of my immediate family.
A year after we moved to Southwest Florida, my youngest son, David, also moved here.
Sadly, we lost him to AIDS, June 14, 2000.
He was 38 years old.
My oldest son still lives in Southern California, with his lovely wife, Cara, and her two boys, and I miss him more than I can say!
Our eldest son, Rich.
And last, but certainly not least, is my beloved, spoiled brat, "Ellie"....a great comfort and my dearest friend!
"Ellie"
Well, this is probably WAY more than you EVER wanted to know about me, and now you also know that I tend to be rather 'long-winded'. Sorry......I hope I didn't bore you TOO much! :-)
